Athlete of the Month: Julia Antony

Meet one of the captains of the Guilford High School cross country team. Julia Antony is a junior and has been a varsity runner since freshman year. She placed second in the SCC in cross country and the mile indoor track. This year she qualified in All-State. She has qualified for states in the mile and two miles in outdoor and indoor. Her trick to doing well during races is getting eight hours of sleep, hydrate, and eating healthy the day of. Her fastest mile is 5:31 this took a lot of hard work and dedication; practicing six days a week with an average of 35 miles a week. After long runs, her favorite type of run, she drinks ice coffee and eats bagels. Her favorite part of running is the team. Pushing her to do better every day. “Everyone is so encouraging, and they have become some of my best friends.” She believes that cross country is different from any other sport because it harsh training and maxing out their bodies to the fullest. In the future of her running career, she considers running in college but still focusing on academics. Although if not able to she would still love to be on a running club team.
