A Flashback Into The Wizarding World: Hogwarts Legacy

A Flashback Into The Wizarding World: Hogwarts Legacy

A massively popular and successful installment in the beloved wizarding world, Hogwarts Legacy dives into a completely different perspective and storyline of the Harry Potter series. Hogarts Legacy gives an overall view of the Hogwarts experience as a fifth year student determined to solve mysteries all with the help of the guided storyline.

Just as you thought Harry Potter was old news, along came Hogwarts Legacy. This game has given Harry Potter fans a throwback into the amazing wizarding world, and acts as a refresher to those who have not seen the movies or read the books in a while. The action and important missions are spaced out almost perfectly in order to keep players from becoming bored during gameplay. The company responsible for the creation of the game, Avalanche Software, keeps this from occurring with the use of missions and tasks that are only accessible through leveling up your character or continuing through the storyline.

Diving deeper into the customization, Avalanche wanted to purposefully provide the players with the comfort and feeling of being fully immersed into the wizarding world. From hats to shoes, and cloaks to scarfs, there is complete control over what your character wears. These objects are either bought through a shop in a town, or earned from completing missions and unlocking chests with powerful spells just like Alohomora which allows the player to unlock doors or windows at will. For the spells, you would think that there would be some space for boredom. No, not at all. There are 34 spells, which I would say is more than enough to play around and have fun with.

All of these exciting spells, costume changes, and destinations would be difficult to get back and forth from right? Well as you can guess, of course a Harry Potter game would have a broom for flying. Well, there is a little more than a broom that is used for transportation. Throughout the missions you will come across a Hippogriff (part eagle, part horse) and a Graphorn, a monster of the sea. These creatures are significant for the storyline and for the nostalgia that is formed when fans encounter them. It is very important that Avalanche kept some of the small details like these creatures in the game that was inspired from the series. Most Harry Potter fans would easily recognize a Hippogriff and connect it to the movies and books when Harry rides one as a volunteer for his class. This nostalgia is what gives players the feeling of watching the movies or reading the books for the very first time. I would say that the developers at Avalanche have captured the feel and have successfully reconnected any fan to the wizarding world of Hogwarts, while also creating an interesting and exciting gaming experience that doesn’t get stale.
